What to say first?! We arrived safe and sound in Tel Aviv, after David was detained for about an hour and the airport had to page my name over the loud speaker because we couldn't find each other. Thank the Lord for loud speakers.
It was about a 45 minute drive from Tel Aviv to our hotel in Jerusalem. I feel asleep on the car ride in which is why I can't give you a detailed description of the terrain on the way in. :) I was so tired when we arrived at about 4:40pm Israel time. Although we took a red-eye and had the opportunity for sleep, I don't sleep on planes, in fact, red-eye flights are a small form of torture to me. When we walked into our hotel I desperately wanted to sleep, but we agreed not to sleep and we walked the Old City of Jerusalem for awhile.
The Old City is pretty neat. There are four quarters, the Armenian Quarter, The Christian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter and the Muslim Quarter. Although, I find the Old City itself to be interesting and packed full of meaning and rich history, a spirit of strife and division seems to follow and linger.
We briefly walked into the Holy Sepulcher where there were steep steps that took us up to Golgotha, or Calvary, meaning "place of the skull'. Down the stairs you find yourself at the Stone of the Unction, where Jesus was cleansed and prepared for burial (which I have no idea how they would know that). Just to the left of the Pink Stone of Unction is the tomb. I have to say, I was so tired that i didn't even care that we were in the Holy Sepulcher. After the brief tour of the Holy Sepulcher by David, which is always packed full of rich info that I could never retain, we went back to the hotel, ate and went to sleep.
There is much more to say, but I will write later. I need to get Breakfast before 11am.
Great to hear from you and I'm glad you arrived safe and sound!
